Corporate Coaching

In corporate America today, and indeed around the world, the need for clear, concise and professional writing skills is evident every day in the poorly written e-mails and letters that pour out of and around companies.

These poorly written internal and external communications have a cost. Questions arising from poorly written communications mean time going over things supposedly already explained. Customers who have better skills than you do are turned off by your lack of written skills. Mistakes are made because unclear instructions lead to poor or erroneous action.

Whether your company is a dot.com or an industrial giant, you simply cannot afford to continue tolerating poor written communications skills. You are already losing money in productivity and you may eventually suffer a severe financial loss arising from confusion about the “what, why and when” of a given piece of communication.

Good writing in a corporate environment is not an art. It is a necessity that can be learned.

What can Bruce Healey do for you?

The first step will be to determine your corporate environment. There is no point in teaching your employees how to write one-page memos if they need to produce service guides for heavy machinery. There is no point in teaching how to write detailed memos if the head of the department wants only single paragraph, e-mail updates on any given project. This will require one meeting with the client.

The second step is to design a custom educational program (this can range from one to five days) which will both assess skills before and after the program, and be relevant, interesting and informative to the participants.

The final step will be to actually teach the program. At this stage, it is important that the participants be able to spend the entire time devoted to the class. For this reason, Bruce Healey does not deliver half day courses or courses spread over several half-days.

Participants will be writing and sharing their writing as well as absorbing new skills on an intense basis.

Who is Bruce Healey

Bruce Healey was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1961. In 1962 his parents moved to England because of the political climate in Brazil at the time. From that time on, Bruce has travelled extensively. He has lived in England, Scotland, Bahrain, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico and the United States. In 1979 he graduated from the American School of Rio de Janeiro, and went on to attend Colgate University, where he earned his BA in Psychology.

After completing his degree, Bruce returned to Brazil. There he worked in insurance and risk management for major American companies. It was at this time that he learned the value of clear, concise and professional communications in both English and Portuguese. Insurance is a detail oriented business, and few people outside the industry understand the nuances. His job, more often than not, involved explaining these nuances to clients in the United States, Mexico and Brazil. In addition, his risk management time taught him the critical importance of communications skills when conferring with people – from factory hands to top executives – about potentially life-threatening situations.

Upon moving to the United States, Bruce concentrated on his writing, producing columns and even a children’s book (“The Day Dad Ran out of Kisses”) in 2008. Samples of his work can be found on this web page.

It is this absolutely unique blend of real-world experience and writing skill that Bruce Healey can draw upon to enhance your organization’s written communication skills.

As you can imagine, Bruce has no problem with international travel if the client wishes.

What will it cost?
